This is a big shout out for Elizabeth Spencer's 2008 Chenin Blanc. It just screams "summer on the patio"! It has beautiful floral notes that are apparent as soon as the bottle is opened, and it's clean enough to pair with a variety of foods. Thanks for taking the time to mention this much overlooked wine.

I can only agree! And I think Beaujolais in general are going well with summer dishes or even to be drunk by the pool
Not to say that I will soon have an excellent one available in the US ;). But Lapierre is also very good while waiting.

Santé!

Great article.

I agree that it's a common misconception that label aesthetics and price correlate positively with wine quality. It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to determine whether a wine is good or not based simply by judging its label (a grape crop of a particular region might be quality one year and poor the next) or a price (many very expensive wines are only mediocre, and many quality wines can be found at reasonable prices).

Over here at Wine of the Month Club, we eliminate the need for guess work, so that all of the wine that we send to our customers is guaranteed to be fair-priced and quality. If you don't like a wine, we'll replace it for you, or refund it. Wine-purchasing shouldn't be any other way.

Salud!
